Greene Metro Housing

GMHA owns and manages over 100 elderly units in Greene County, Ohio.

Elderly Housing units in Fairborn, Ohio GMHA provides housing for elderly and disabled individuals in Xenia, Fairborn and Yellow Springs. The majority of these units are one-bedroom, ground level apartments.   All units have a stove and refrigerator and a laundry facility on site. Most units have a storage and patio area.  These units are all located in quiet, residential neighborhoods.  Banking, pharmacy, groceries and specialty stores are all located nearby.

Each elderly site has a community room for residents to use. Each site also provides units that are designed for physical access by mobility-impaired residents. Residents are required to pay rent that is based on 30% of their income. GMHA also provides maintenance to families year round. Maintenance staff provides routine and preventative maintenance items. Our skilled staff is on call for emergencies 24 hours a day.

These Elderly units are owned and managed by Greene Metropolitan Housing Authority.  Some of our units additionally, receive subsidies from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Maggie McKnight

Maggie McKnight is a 25 unit, independent living facility, located in Xenia, Ohio. It is located in downtown Xenia and is within walking distance to most of the area retail stores.

Maggie McKnight is a three-story apartment complex with 25 one-bedroom, apartments. Five apartments are designed for physical accessibility by mobility impaired residents and are located on the ground floor.  An elevator and stairs gives access to all upper floors.  

Amenities include; carpet, a private balcony in each apartment, stoves and refrigerator and central heat and air conditioning.  A secure entrance on the ground floor, includes an intercom to the outer entrance, from each apartment. This allows residents to screen calls before giving a guest entry into the building.  This apartment complex includes a community room where the laundry facilities are located. 

Maple Terrace

Maple Terrace is a 25 unit development located in Fairborn, Ohio, which was built in 1982. It is located in a quiet, residential neighborhood.

There are 25 one-bedroom, ground level apartments. Four apartments are specifically designed for physical access by mobility-impaired residents.  It is one of two GMHA housing sites in Fairborn, designated for elderly and disabled individuals.

Most units have a small outdoor patio and gardening space. There is also a community room with a full kitchen and laundry facilities located within the complex.

Lawson Expansion

Lawson Expansion consists of 25 one bedroom-units built in 1983. It is contiguous to Hamilton Manor, which was built in 1965.

Lawson Expansion is located near the heart of Yellow Springs.  All apartments are ground floor with private entrances. One apartment is specifically designed for physical access by mobility-impaired residents. Most apartments include a small outdoor patio and gardening space.

Yellow Springs is a unique small town with a wide variety of cultural, religious and civic organizations. There is an active Senior Citizen's Center located downtown, which provides transportation services to Lawson Place residents.

A community room, with a full kitchen, is available within the complex for resident activities and family gatherings, etc. The laundry facility is also located inside of the community room.

Hawthorne Apartments

Hawthorne is a 50 unit, independent living facility, located in Fairborn, Ohio. This is one of two GMHA housing sites in Fairborn, designated for elderly and disabled individuals.

There are 50 one-bedroom, ground level apartments. Four apartments are designed for physical accessibility by mobility impaired residents. Most units have a small outdoor patio and gardening space.

The apartment complex also includes a community room where the laundry facilities are located.  Residents are encouraged to attend council meetings.

Hamilton Manor

Hamilton Manor consists of 14 units built in 1965. These are the original units built as elderly housing units in Yellow Springs.  There is an active Senior Citizen's Center located downtown, which provides transportation services to Lawson Place residents.

Hamilton Manor consists of twelve (12) one-bedroom units and two (2) two-bedroom units. All apartments are ground floor with private entrances.  Although there are no units specifically designated for mobility-impaired residents, each unit is accessible in terms of door width and turning space in the bathroom.  Most apartments include a small outdoor patio and a designated gardening space.

Community Room Hamilton ManorA separate community room, with a full kitchen, is available within the complex for resident activities. The laundry facility is also located inside of the community room.

Residents are encouraged to participate in the resident advisory board. This board provides a forum for resident involvement in resident services. It also aids in the development of maintenance and capital improvement plans for the property.
