Public Housing
GHMA owns and manages 139 elderly and 222 family units. These units are distributed in Beavercreek, Cedarville, Fairborn, Yellow Springs, and Xenia.

Section 8
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY!!!!!!!

As of November 5, 2009, the Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers we will not be issuing any more vouchers for the rest of calendar  year  2009.  It is a possibility that no vouchers will be issued in the year 2010, but please feel free to check back to see if there are any updates or changes regarding the Section 8 Voucher Program.

This program offers vouchers to eligible elderly, single, near-elderly, handicapped, disabled and families to find their own unit, enter into a lease directly with the owner and to have GHMA supplement their rent payments to the owner.

Individual Development Account (IDA)
IDA’s are matched savings accounts for low and moderate-income families designed to encourage savings, asset building, and financial responsibility through matching individual savings by at least two to one.  IDAs can be used for purposes such as first-time home ownership, education and business capitalization.

Project Total
This is a grant funded program, which began in June of 1998.  Its purpose is to provide intensive home-based case management to county residents who are homeless to help them to obtain and maintain permanent housing.

Sensible Shelter, Inc. - Home Ownership
Sensible Shelter, Inc., a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, was established in 1989 by GMHA to provide homeownership opportunities for low and moderate-income families.  It has as one of its purposes “To develop real estate for the purpose of providing the opportunity for home ownership for persons and families of low to moderate-income.”   

Wise Manor
Mary Wise Manor
is owned by Sensible Shelter and is managed by GMHA.  The development originally had ten (10) lease-to-purchase homes, which were sold to the resident in 2006.  Still left are eight townhouse two-bedroom rental units that are available for low income families.  

Resident Initiatives
Greene Metropolitan Housing Authority provides on-the-job training for Low Rent through the Resident Initiatives Program. This program is designed to assist residents with learning a new skill which will broaden their marketability in the job market. Training opportunities range from maintenance/grounds work to office/clerical work.
