Hamilton Manor consists of 14 units built in 1965. These were the
original units built for elderly housing in Yellow Springs. They
are located in a quiet residential neighborhood near the heart of
Yellow Springs. Banking, pharmacy, grocery and specialty stores
are conveniently located nearby.
Yellow Springs is a unique small town with a wide variety of cultural,
religious and civic organizations. There is an active Senior Citizen's
Center located downtown, which provides transportation services
to Lawson Place residents.
Hamilton Manor consists of twelve (12) one-bedroom units and two
(2) two-bedroom units. All apartments are ground floor with private
entrances. Although there are no units specifically designated for
mobility-impaired residents, each unit is accessible in terms of
door width and turning space in the bathroom. Most apartments include
a small outdoor patio and gardening space.
A community room, with a full kitchen, is available within the
complex for resident activities such as SCOPE meals, which are served
Monday - Friday at noontime, weekly bridge club, family gatherings
etc. The laundry facility is also located inside of the community
room.
Hamilton Manor is owned and managed by Greene Metropolitan Housing
Authority with subsidy from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban
Development. Residents are encouraged to participate in a resident
council, which provides a forum for resident involvement in resident
services and development of a maintenance and capital improvement
plan for the property. Maintenance staff provides routine and preventative
maintenance and is on call for emergencies 24 hours a day.
