Greene Metropolitan Housing Authority (GMHA) prides itself on the
quality housing that it provides. Family units are dispersed throughout
in Greene County, which makes the residents feel like a part of
the community, and not targeted as low-income households.
GMHA owns 361 public housing units in five communities in Greene
County. GMHA offers 24-hour maintenance to both family and elderly
units. Residents on GMHA's Low Rent Program benefit from a number
of programs and services.
Families are encouraged to participate in the Resident Initiatives
Program. This program provides on-the-job training so that residents
can learn a new skill. The benefit of this program is that the income
that is received is not counted toward rent. This gives residents
an opportunity to save money.

meeting after a family or elderly resident is housed. The Social

a full understanding of GMHA's polices and services.
The Social Worker is also available to all GMHA residents to assist
with resolving problems as well as to promote self-sufficiency.
The Social Worker serves as an advocate for residents who need assistance.

GMHA is committed to providing a safe environment for its residents.
Staff meets with the Xenia City Police on a monthly basis to walk
the East End area neighborhood. This lets residents know that GMHA
has a strong and committed presence in their community. The local
police department also uses a GMHA unit as a police sub-station
in Xenia.
All elderly sites have a designated resident to assist them if
there is trouble with their unit. One complex has a common entrance
with an intercom system. Other complexes have neighborhood watch
programs and meet regularly with the local police department.
A Resident Advisory Board is available for both families and elderly
residents. Representatives from each area of Greene County meet
to discuss policy changes, upcoming improvements, activities and
other items pertaining to their housing.
